For this particular cap I've used an original pattern from the era which features an unstructured 6 panel crown, a cotton twill sweatband, Singer 32-43 oversized stitched, and an unbreakable soft 2" inch stitched visor consistent with caps from the era.
The fabric is a beautiful and very rare wool tweed produced by Otterburn Mills in England. This fabric was milled sometime between the 1950’s-1970’s prior to the Mill closing in the late 1970’s. Otterburn Mill is a former textile mill in Otterburn Northumberland, northeast England. It was owned by the Waddell family for many years and is over 250 years old. The mill is noted for its pram rugs and its crowning moment was on the birth of Princess Elizabeth in 1926, when Buckingham Palace contacted the mill requesting a rug for the royal pram.
These caps also feature a cotton twill D-ring adjustable strap for comfort and fit.
Features:
- Vintage 1950’s-70’s Otterburn Mills Wool Tweed / Japanese cotton twill under visor
- Singer 32-43 oversized stitched eyelets
- Black cotton twill sweatband
- D-ring adjustable cotton twill strap
- Canvas lined 2” inch unbreakable stitched brim
All of my caps are handmade from start to finish by me, using machines from the 1920's-1960's. No two caps are the same and differences in construction are to be celebrated.
